Pastor Bobby L. Dukes is proud to be the son of James and Terotha Dukes. He is the youngest of six children (Nathaniel, Michael, Jimmy, Jessie, and Caletha). His father taught him how to take care of his family, while his mother reared him in the “nurture and admonition of the Lord.” Pastor Dukes always gives tribute to his maternal grandmother the late Caletha T. Kirkland for her role she played in his formative development. She will always be near and dear to his heart!
He is married to the love of his life Shanikia L. Dukes. Truly she is the virtuous woman Solomon’s mother told him about in Proverbs 31. In the eyes of Pastor Dukes, “Her price (worth) is far above rubies.” They have three children (Javaris, Deoshe’, and Alexcia). They also have two grandsons (Brayden and Landon). Before God granted Pastor Dukes the assignment to lead the Ned Branch Missionary Baptist Church family, He first entrusted him with his wife and children. Pastor Dukes loves his family with the love of God. He understands diminutive beginnings, and his family is the greatest gift God has given unto him.
God granted Pastor Dukes the opportunity to glean from Bishop Rogers Pringle, Bishop Alexander Dwight, and Bishop Theodore Myers, whom have over 150 combine years of experience. These creditable God-fearing men ungrudgingly imparted into his life, his ministry, his preaching, and his teaching. Their divine impartation of godly wisdom, knowledge, and understanding helps Pastor Dukes navigate through the torrential pitfalls of ministry. In the purview of Pastor Dukes, with all the money in the world, he could not repay these prestigious men of God for the spiritual insights they have bestowed in him. Therefore, he seeks to live his life in the manner that they have taught him, and one day passing on to others what they have imparted into him.
Pastor Dukes accepted his call and confess it to the world in December 1999. He remained under the tutelage and observance of his mentors for the next ten or so years. In December 2010 Pastor Dukes was elected to be the pastor of Ned Branch Missionary Baptist Church. With much prayer and wise counsel, he accepted the election. In January 2011 he began serving as the Lead Pastor of the NBMBC. In simultaneity of becoming the Lead Pastor of NBMBC, Pastor Dukes was being catechized via International Bible Way to be ordained as an Elder. On July 1, 2011 he was ordained as an Elder, and July 10, 2011 he was installed as the Lead Pastor of the NBMBC.
Pastor Dukes has earned a bachelor’s degree in Biblical Studies from Liberty University in Lynchburg, Virginia. Additionally, he has also earned a master’s degree in Pastoral Counseling from the very same university. Currently he is pursuing a Doctoral of Education (Ed.D) degree in Christian Leadership. It is his goal to use his formal education to propel others in their gifting(s) of God; yet, making known ‘knowledge' is only part of the solution, it is the “ANOINTING,” which only God can give, destroys the yoke!
Pastor Dukes wholeheartedly believes that everyone deserves a second chance. He inspires his flock, and others that he encounters, with vision and godly expectation. Continuously he shares his knowledge of Christ through the word of God with reverent integrity. Habitually worshipping God in praise and adoration no matter the situation or circumstance. He teaches and emphasize that NBMBC is a “PLACE WHERE LOVE WORKS.” The mantra that he lives by is, “ALWAYS US!”
